Connecting all allotment communities in Greater London
SPA HILL ALLOTMENT SOCIETY LIMITED
WAITING LIST POLICY
First existing plotholders wishing to
exchange their present plot for a different one of the same size or
smaller will be alowed to do so provided that their existing plot
is reasonably cultivated.
Second all applicants for plots on the waiting list who live within one kilometer of the allotment site (measured as a straight line distance from the centre of the site) are offered plots in the order that they placed their names on the waiting list as plots become available.
Third all other applicants for plots on the waiting list will be listed in bands, each one kilometer wide radiating from the site, (measured as a straight line distance from the centre of the site). Band two being those between one and two Km. from the site, band three those between two and three Km. etc.. Applicants in each band will be offered a plot in the order that they placed their names on the waiting list as plots become available provided that there is no one on the waiting list in a lower band for a plot of that size or type.
Plots which have been organically cultivated will be offered to the next applicant on the list who has expressed a willingness to cultivate organically.
Existing plotholders wanting a second plot are treated in the same way as new applicants to the waiting list.
Where there are special circumstances such as difficulty in finding a suitable tenant for a particular plot because of the condition of that plot the Ground Steward shall go down the waiting list in the order set out above until he finds a suitable tenant.
Where a plot has been offered and no reply has been received within 28 days the applicants name shall be removed from the waiting list.
Where a plot has been offered and accepted but the rent has not been paid within twenty eight days the offer shall be withdrawn and the applicant removed from the waiting list.
Where a plot has been offered but has been refused for adequate reason the applicant may remain on the list but shall be listed as though they first applied on the date of the refusal.Where we can only offer a non organic plot to an organic applicant they may refuse that plot and remain in their present position on the list until an organic plot becomes available for offer.
The Site Sub-Committee shall have power to move any person whose name is on the waiting list and who is a member of the Society up the list if that person has voluntarily done work for the benefit of the Society and there is good reason to suppose that they intend to continue to do such work after obtaining the tenancy of a plot. The criteria for such a move shall be the value to the Society of the work done and likely to be done. It should be pointed out to applicants for plots that all members of the Society are encouraged to do voluntary work for the Society.
The Site-Sub Committee shall have authority, where the situation or condition of a plot justifies it, to offer a plot to a known good cultivator who is not the top name on the list. When this is done they must go to the highest applicant on the list known to have the ability required for the plot in question.
